My Heart, His Words

Let the Words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your site, O Lord.

When You’ve Got Nothin’

2 peter 1 3

Lately, I’ve found myself at a loss for words with my writing. Well, maybe not completely at a loss for words, but they aren’t flowing as frequently as they have been and I just keep thinking “I’ve got nothin’ to say”. I’ve been wrestling with this issue because after all, how can a writer write without words? However, God is teaching me REST, which sometimes means rest from all things good!

I’d like to share a few things God’s been whispering to my restless heart during this time.

when you've got nothin

be stillThis is a very difficult thing for me to do. Stillness is strange to me!
I’m a goer & doer, a mover & shaker!
Yet, during this time of rest, God keeps whispering to my heart, BE STILL.
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I
am God”

be quietGod keeps reminding me to be quiet and accept that sometimes I have nothing to say
because it’s in the stillness that He will give me the Words He wants me to say.
I never want to be a vessel spewing words that are not anointed.
Isaiah 30:15
“In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”

waitOh, that painful word “wait”!!!
Living in a society of instant gratification,
waiting for anything is extremely difficult.
It’s in the waiting that we get to watch God’s hand at work.
It’s in the waiting that He moves mountains.
It’s in the waiting that He makes all things new.
Isaiah 40:31
“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,  They shall walk and not faint.”

Friend, if you happen to be in a season where you’re feelin’ like you’ve got nothin, may you be encouraged in knowing that God has given us everything we need, we just have to learn to walk it! Be Still, Be Quiet & Wait.

  2. Boy, how I hate that word “wait.” But it’s in the waiting and being still that I’ve grown the most. You’re wise to heed his nudging. There will always be those times when the words just won’t come. It’s good to pull back sometimes and just be still. He’ll give you the right words again soon!!

  3. So many times the Lord has reminded me of this: Be still and know that I am God. Waiting is never easy, but it is worth it in the end.

  4. Oh man, I’ve been living this season for a few months. Although my writing has picked up some (2x a week, and one guest post a week) I am still in a season where I feel as though the words are not flowing. Waiting is hard, but I know that in due time, the words will come again for all of us who are in this season.
