We pull up to the house and it looks pretty basic, yet appealing to the eye, & it’s located in a neighborhood we’ve always loved.
As we wait for our realtor, we have no idea what to expect once she opens that door.
She unlocks the door and we walk in…
Surprise after surprise
And it got me thinking…
So often we pray for God’s blessing, provision & direction in our lives, but when we see it, we don’t recognize it because it’s wrapped in different packaging.
That dream job you “always wanted” but didn’t get? God opens the door elsewhere & years down the line you realize what God was doing when he matched you to that perfect job. The people, the challenges, the flexibility… Blessings in disguise!
That significant other you thought you were in love with, yet turned out not to be the right fit? Your obedience in letting go afforded God the opportunity to open doors elsewhere & now you’re married to your best friend & can’t imagine a life any better! Blessings in disguise!
At the end of last year, the theme God placed on my heart for my family was, “This is only the beginning”. I took our family photo & inscribed those words above it & hung it on the hallway wall as a reminder of God’s promises.
The word God placed on my heart for myself this year is “Believe“, so I’m choosing to believe that this is only the beginning of some amazing things God has in store for me & my family.
The point isn’t whether this house is “the one” for us or not. The point is that God is teaching me to see things through His eyes. To see beyond what my eye beholds and to BELIEVE that He truly has amazing things in store for me, for my family & for you too, my friend!
God Whispers to My Heart:
“Will you trust me?
Will you trust that I’ve got MORE for you?
Will you trust that I want to bless you:
That I want to give you good things?
Will you trust me?”
Lord, I trust You! You’ve never failed, me & you never will. I pray that you will open my eyes to see things the way you see them!
“We don’t yet see things clearly.
We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist.
But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright!
We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us,
knowing him directly just as he knows us!
But for right now, until that completeness,
we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation:
Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly.
And the best of the three is love.”
