My Heart, His Words

Let the Words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your site, O Lord.

Rest is a Choice

As I’ve mentioned before, God has called me to a season of REST, yet I am continually bombarded with more things to keep me busy!

So I simply ask God, “Why, if you are calling me to REST, is my life getting busier?”

What I hear in response is simply, “REST, Child. REST”

Then it dawns on me that it’s my choice to obey or not! It really is that simple!

rest is a choice

I can continue to frantically pursue the successes of today,
or I can REST in Christ, as He brings eternal success to my soul.

Sometimes it’s our insecurities that keep us continually striving rather than resting.  Thoughts such as, “If I don’t do this, I will be viewed as weak, less than ideal, or I could be replaced! {Gasp!}

Truth is, those fears are just lies of the enemy. If I truly believe that God has called me for such a time as this, then I have to also believe that He understands my limits, my need for rest & my need for Him to step in & make the impossible, possible through Him.

As I mentioned in my previous post, my husband & I have been looking to purchase a home.  God in His infinite ability, opened the door when & where we didn’t even know a door existed: We are now in escrow on our first home together! GOD IS GOOD!

So as I walk this season of REST, all the while organizing our lives for this move, I’m asking that you pray with me, for my family. Here are my prayer requests:

  • God’s strength as we prepare for this move.
  • God’s protection on our hearts, minds, health/bodies, souls & finances.
  • God’s peace as we encounter each task on the laundry-list of “to-do’s”.
  • God’s presence, in all we do, as we step out in faith, trusting Him on this journey.
  • God’s wisdom, discernment & understanding in all we do.

In an act of obedience to God’s call for me to REST, starting this week, I am reducing my blog posts to only one per week, instead of the usual three.  Once my family is re-situated in our new home, I will follow the direction God gives me & resume posting accordingly.

I can’t thank you enough for your love & prayers during this blessed season of my life.

I love this journey & I love sharing it with amazing friends like you!

Most of all, I love God’s promise that “This is Only the Beginning“.

His blessings know no bounds, I see them every day!

  1. As I read this, the great invitation of our Lord and Savior came to mind….”Come unto me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Truly, we can find rest in Jesus.

  3. Yep- I’m in a season of rest as well. It’s good though. God has been showing things I’ve been missing. And I love the peace that comes with choosing to rest and be still. It does a heart good! 🙂

  5. I think you might get a kick out of this. I wasn’t sure if I could remember all your prayer requests so I started a prayer journal titled “This is Only the Beginning.” It’s the coolest thing how your call to obedience requires you to rest when you have “good” reasons to keep moving. Especially when for most of us stepping out in faith means, “pick up your mat and walk.” So delighted to hear this is a blessed season in your life and thank you for sharing your journey. It is enriching mine.
